Sydney Metro City Project

26 September 2022

Sydney Metro is shaping Sydney’s growth, into an inclusive and better-connected world-class city.

Our work has taken our people across a variety of engagements and several scales. Most recently we have provided advice to the operational North-West section and delivery advice as well as project management for rail equipment for the second stage. Our people have also delivered commercial advisory services across Sydney Metro West – Advanced Enabling Works, Western Tunneling Package, and Station works.

The Sydney Metro has been designed to cater for future growth and meet the needs of a rapidly growing city. The new metro line will help to relieve congestion on Sydney’s existing rail network and provide a much-needed boost to public transport capacity in Australia’s largest city.

Construction on the Sydney Metro began in earnest in 2012 with Phase 1 of the project, which involved building a new rail line from Tallawong Station in the northwest of Sydney to Chatswood Station in the north shore. Construction on this phase was completed in 2019, and the new metro line is now operational. By 2030, Sydney will have a network of four metro lines, 46 stations and 113km of new metro rail.
